Having an issue with custom disk probe

Hi, I am having an issue building a custom disk probe for pc-dmis CAD Version 2017 R2 Release - build #1424 (Service Pack 14).

Here is what I have:

ITEM:TIP4BY1MMDISK M2
comment N-5555-0298-03-A
begintip
ribcount 10
color 142 142 142
cylinder 0 0 0 0 0 -3 3
cone 0 0 -3 3 0 0 -13 2
cylinder 0 0 -13 0 0 -31 1
color 255 0 0
cylinder 0 0 -31 0 0 -32 4
hotspot 0 0 -31.5 0 0 1 4 1 disk
endtip

Problem is when I go to calibrate the probe with the artifact it moves way below the artifact and doesn't touch.
Including the print for the probe.

Any help will be great.

  • When I used 2012, 2016 and 2019, I would qualify the probe manually (MAN, not MAN + DCC) and then run it in DCC (not DCC + DCC).

I would bring the flat on the stylus RIGHT next to the qualification sphere and look at the Z.
Adjust for half the disk thickness AND half the qualification sphere, that gives me the middle of the sphere for THIS probe in THIS qualification.

take hits, watching the Z so I had three circles of four hits each.

The top and bottom circle would be a Z that was just short of half the disk thickness.

I'm assuming you already set the calibration mode to user defined and set a plus minus in degrees as shown int the attached screen shot.

It sucked, but it was the only way I got good qualifications from my disks.

Now, in 2021.2, the disk qualification is AMAZING. If it was always there and I didn't have it on, I'll be angry, but I'm passed that version and not going back, so I did this manual stuff instead.

IF the master probe build is correct, and your custom build is correct, you shouldn't have to do all that, but it's what I did. Take it for what its worth.

    good luck
