Lost Program

I need some serious help and I am hoping to explain this the best I can, so please bear with me...

When I have an operator running a program, after the qualify the probe and then hit the EXECUTE button, the program is deleted and only the part of the program that is left is the probe callout.

Typically, we just exit the program and reload it and its back there, but sometimes they close the program which automatically saves it.

Is there something that they are doing that I am missing that they are doing or is this a bug in the software?

Any suggestions about this would be greatly appreciated so I don't end up banging my head against the wall...

Thanks in advance.
  • File>Quit :leaves program, does NOT perform any saving
File>Close: leaves program, saves as closing

Operator Mode will inhibit anyone from using File>Close, and it will also lock users out from making any changes in the edit window.
I don't understand about the program deletion, is it just a visual glitch when starting run, or does the code really disappear? Does the program continue to execute even though the code isn't visible in the edit window, or does it stop the execution once it has the correct probe?

If you are resurrecting the same program over and over, it could be corrupt. In which case most here would probably recommend opening a new template/program file and copy/pasting the code to the new file. This can often correct something that has gone corrupt in your previous file.
  • I've seen it in 2020r2 program still runs but the edit screen goes white. Not sure if its a bug or not and has happened over several programs and not all the time etc...Try to right click on the .Prg file and make it read only. This used to work on older versions for me, not sure about the newer ones but worth a try Wink
