I am using a 0.7X20mm probe (long thin shaft). What are the best calibration settings for this probe? It keeps failing calibration for a few tip angles (.0004 deviation). I am using DCC+DCC 31 hits (5 levels) with a start angle of 10 and end angle of 90.
I'm on SP25M and SM25-2. Personally i use for my 0.3 and 0.5 sphere touch speed of 1mm/sec, prehit and retract 2mm. Try these config that works on my spheres 10mm and 20mm long. If not, maybe that sphere is not okay for that head, for example my Global Performance works well with a 0.5 sphere 20mm long, but the Optiv M can't use a sphere that long.
At least you can try to modify the start angle to 2/3°, and maybe 2 or 3 levels with 16 points.
On my 0.3mm I'm at .49mm/sec with a HP-S-X1H probe and get zeroes for std dev. 2mm/sec is too fast.
Make sure you measure the part at whatever speed you qualify at.
Sorry but I'm going to piggyback on this string. I just ordered a 0.5 x 20 stylus that I'm going to put on a Leitz LSPX1C probing system of an Optiv vision system.
What optional probe settings are you folks using for this configuration?
This mostly depends on shaft diameter and material, but when things get very flakey, or if you have a thin part: touchspeed 1.0, Max force 0.024N, Low force 0.012N, Upper force 0.02N, Trigger force 0.016N
So going from 2mm/sec to 0.5mm/sec helped a bit. A few tip angles came in tolerance (<.0003) but there’s still 2 tip angles that always give me .0004 deviation increasing hit points or levels doesn’t seem to do much.
I am going to test the same thing on my other machine soon. Haven’t installed the 0.7mm probe there yet. I’ll try to report back
