I've got a part that is pretty cylindrical with an OD as Datum A, a front plane as Datum B, and Datum C is the axis of a hole that has a threaded insert installed. What is my best option for creating my alignment with this? Should I just use a read point for Datum C?
You can always make the threaded hole probe a circle along the pitch of the thread.
That way it's making contact at the same feature of the thread, all the way around the probed circle.
IE: 20 tpi = 1/20 = 0.050" pitch applied to the circle.
