Threaded hole axis as a Datum

I've got a part that is pretty cylindrical with an OD as Datum A, a front plane as Datum B, and Datum C is the axis of a hole that has a threaded insert installed. What is my best option for creating my alignment with this? Should I just use a read point for Datum C?

  • If you have tight tolerances, then just invest in tru pos & invest in maintaining the integrity of them. Idk why we got away from using them when we have .001-.010 tols,,,, b/c probing the threads has been a *** show for us since we started. I have some influence but not much. I am not the lead programmer here, I am merely a "technician" learning his way & all I really do (for my job) is debug programs. Sometimes I get to make a prg but not as often as I'd like.
