When trying to import a .ipt CAD file I get the following error. We're running 2020 R2 CAD++. Is there something more we need to purchase or do I need an Inventor license on the PC i'm running PCDMIS on?
I use Inventor for my models and use the File/Export/CAD Format to save as a .STP format.
We don't have an Inventor license in our QC lab, so we would have to have engineering export the correct file type for each model we would need in that case.
We use Onshape. When ever model and drawing is finalized, its Engineering's responsibility to make the current version of the model and drawing accessible to the users. We then can downlaod the model in almost any file type.
Hexagon gives you (for FREE) the ability to import models with the 'neutral' IGES or STP/STEP extension. Export it to either of those yourself from the native CAD software... OR if you can't, ask your engineer to do it for each CAD model you need.
IF you need/want to import CAD files in the native format - as you wanted to do in Inventor .(ipt) or maybe Solidworks .(sldprt) or NX (.prt) or Creo (.prt) or Catia (.CATPart) or :::::::::
Then you gotta ante up for the module (CAD file extension) your company uses. If memory serves? I recall it was about 5K (that was for NX, and I told our director it wasn't needed) although it would have been cool to have it.... I guess
