What probe module to use?

I'm using a Renishaw TTP and I typically use a 4mm ball x 30 or 50mm stylus. I have 3 TP20 modules, SF, MF, and EF. I check steel and aluminum parts. Does it matter which module I use? And should I use different modules for the 30mm and the 50mm? Any recommendations?

  • Thank you, I swapped out the 6W and EF modules for a MF when using a 50mm stylus and I'm getting much better results. It also had a lot less mileage on it (I think). I'm measuring a part with a 13 micron tolerance, so I needed a lot more accuracy than what I was getting. I think my predecessor may have been using some questionable probe builds for years.
