How to check flatness of a Cylinder ?

Hello all

I got a call for flatness of a cylinder. When I check the cylinder, I check with 3 cycles and 6 hits each 180 degrees a cycle. What should I do to get the call? Thank you

Call up the designer and ask what they were thinking.

You cannot have flatness of a cylinder. Flatness can only be applied to a plane. I suspect that what they actually meant was straightness of the cylinder's surface.

Simply wrong use of GD&T. Closest would be straightness of the generatrixes on the surface of the cylinder (like Neil already pointed out).

Thank you both.

The designer would like to control 2 wires' flatness to a surface ( One wire about datum B and the other wire is datum C), but could not find the right way to clarify it.
