Faro Arm pc-dmis Edit Probe Data

I am using a 6.35mm (.250") Probe to calibrate a simple 12" block
I keep getting a 12.500 reading.
What is the Edit Probe Data suppose to be in
X, Y, Z Center
Diameter & Thickness?
or does anyone know what could be the problem. I calibrated to the 1" ball w/in .001.

    It could also be your angle of approach for measuring those points. Measure the points on the ends as square to the surface as you can get. make sure your probe is coming in at at least more than a 45 degree angle to the surface. If you are obstructed somehhow from doing this, take a 3 point plane instead of a single vector point. Can you post some code from your program? If the top of your block is the XY plane (normal to the Z axis) and the front of your block runs in line with the X axis, then the points your taking on the left and right ends of the block should have IJK values of -1,0,0 and 1,0,0 respectively. Otherwise the software is compensating to the bottom of probe, and you would have the radius of the probe added to each end of the block. 12.000" + 2X.125" which would be 12.25". Since you are getting 12.5", I almost wonder if you don't have the probe identified wrong. You're certain it's a .25"(6.35mm) probe?
    That said, you really shouldn't be calibrating ANYTHING with a PCMM. Vernier Calipers are even better than using a Faro or Romer Arm for the task, IMHO.
