Cloud of Points

Is it possible to pull dimensions from a scanned cloud of points without having a CAD model loaded? Generate a plane, line, point etc, align to it and pull dimensions? How do select individual points?

Thanks

  • I assume since you have a CAD model loaded you are also working with CAD software. It might be easier, depending on what you're using the inspection data for, to export the points from PCDMIS into your CAD software and manipulate the data from there. If you're just trying to set up datums in PCDMIS to calculate measurements and whatnot then I would re-write your program using autofeatures or spearate the scans into lines, diameters, etc. It makes it easier to edit the program later on and to keep track of what you're doing while setting up the measurement datums. HOWEVER - if you insist on doing it your way.... Take the scan, go back into the scan to 'edit' (F9) and hit "to points" button under the generation window. **I THINK** the measured values will follow into the edit window with the individual auto vector points...I seem to remember doing this one time by accident, actually, and I would try it but I'm not at my machine right now. Let us know if that works for you!
