Bad code

Can someone tell me what is wrong with this code: ASSIGN/V3=DIMB.X.MEAS-DIMV1.MEAS

Im trying to assign V3 to equal the measured value for dimension B in the x-axis minus dimension V1. V1 is a keyed in value.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you post the actual code with the assignments? I think it's probably the last part. What is DIMV1.MEAS? If it's just a assignment with a value you should not need the .MEAS extension.

If "V1=Keyedinvalue" you should have a variable of.....

ASSIGN/V3=DIMB.X.MEAS-V1

..... BUT, without seeing your actual code, INCLUDING the measured feature and keyed in value that are in the assignment (variable) it is hard to answer.

I don't recall the code for a keyed in value, but you're looking for something like this, I think.

ASSIGN/V1=KEYED IN VALUE ASSIGN/V3=DIMB.X.MEAS-V1

So here is my code. I also want to report V3 as a dimension after I assign it a value, and im not sure how to go about doing that. Thanks for the help.

counterpart5, remove the spaces inside the brackets and your code will show up like John's did.

+1 to John you have a space in the ID name for the keyed in dimension and no space in the assignment. Also you should get in the habit of using underscore then spaces. pcdmis does not like using anything but letters numbers and underscore in ID names. It can cause you problems espically with assignments.

Also you've asked for dimb.x.meas

Dimb is a distance command therefore doesn't have an x axis.

Just use dimb.meas
