I am attempting to help some one out who recently purchased the Romer Infinite 2.0 with scanner. I have finale figured out how to get pcdmis to talk with WinRDS & get the probe to calibrate . We are using 4.3. I was able to get a tooling ball to repeat within .001" I went to set-up and test on an actual gage they wanted verified, got it set-up and matched up to cad Verified Datums repeated within .0008". I went and measured using Auto Vector points and measured with AutoMeas Tol set to .01". a The results im geting is Roughly Half the Probe Ø.
How does the Romer know which direction to compensate ?
Should I use surface points instead ? Will that project the Measured point to the surface with sample hits turned on?
I don't know about arms, but I believe that only a surface point can compensate the ball radius...
The ball doesn't know where it touch the surface, even if you carefully touch in the shank axis, you can touch on the side... It's the same on a manual cmm...
Ugh any other ideas it only has Auto Vector point I went through the menu it still only shows Vector point not the typical surface, edge,Angle etc... Any other ideas out there
You can try to measure a little plane around the point that you want to measure, then measure the point and project it on the plane, or assign the plane vector to a vector point... It's longer, but it works ! (I used it on a cmm which have only cad version...)
Yeah I was thinking the same thing I posted on the other site as well with additional information that i have found not sure if I'm wanting to through the task of checking to see if the interface was installed correctly or not, Its Christmas party today so no work today deal with it next week thanks
