In lieu of using 3D CAD data if XYZ and IJK values are provided can PC-DMIS measure a circle on a cylinder that is located on a compound angle? Can the distance from the measured circle center-point to nominal axis of the cylinder be reported? Can the true position of the circle center-point from the nominal axis of the cylinder be reported?
I have a strong background in GD&T, metrology, and gaging but I am not a CMM programmer and I am having extreme difficulty getting true position data from the straight sections of a tube that has several bends all on compound angles. Thank you in advance for your time, consideration, and any help or advise you can provide.
