WHY IS IT that YOUR techs rename all the d
amn probes when you do the annual calibration/certification? You have any idea how much of a pain in the
ass that makes it for people trying to use existing programs?
You should change the name of all the probes in your programs to what they use. After all, you only run your programs all year around, whilst they have to perform the annual calibration/certification once per year.
I had a few minutes today to ask the service manager for this department about this and I was informed that this is part of the calibration process that new probes are created for the calibration and they use a generic file name structure for ease of use and as software other than PC-DMIS isn't strict in regards to active probes. The service manager asks that if you would like for them to maintain the probe naming convention you're using then please ask the coordinator who takes your order to make a note on the service order and they will take care of it for you.
