3D Scanning

Using a New Romer RA8 with scanner and Pc-Dmis2021
So i have a customer Volvo that supplies me with MPT documents that shows locations of points that they want measured. The question is exactly how to 3D scan the part and extract those exact points from the COP Scan? I imported the CSV file to get all the points into the program, but they are not recognized by Pc-Dmis as points. Any information will help! Initially this is one off inspection but will become a 30pc cap study soon with these points. Scanning is the only way of getting this information consistently with an Arm.

  • Depending on how many points you have, you could use auto features to create the points in the approximate locations, and type in the nominal x,y,z values from your csv file. I'm sure there would be a way to programmatically open the csv file and read the values, but that's beyond my capability.

Also, 3d scanning is good, but be prepared to see "need more scan data" and get frustrated ... ! Also, make sure you run the program off the local drive on the machine, and save often.
