Start a Broken PCDMIS Vision in Ofline mode

Hello all,
I have an Optiv running 2017, I pressed the update button and since it is a 32 bit PC it downloaded and tried to update to 2017. Now the software gives connection errors at startup. I have been onto support but they were unable to fix it remotely, the problem is apparently due to the mc having a Mycrona controller which is not a straight forward update. Support ticket raised and onsite visit booked, but the Eng will not get here for a month!

I would like to use the seat in offline mode in the mean time, could anyone tell me how I can achieve this please.

What error are you getting? I know I experienced the software completely not running when starting up. I would get an error and it'd close automatically. I was told to go into the PC-DMIS folder in the C drive and change the INTERFAC.dll to INTERFAC.old and it worked.

If your license allows running completely offline, temporarily renaming interfac.dll should work, but if your license is "online" like most CMM licenses, PC-DMIS won't start without contact with the machine. Talk to your local Hexagon representative to see if they can get you a time limited [demo] software license for "offline".

Our Optiv is DOA if I try to use anything other than what Hex-a-Tech setup for me.
The offline was finnickey; I changed some DLL's around (I forget which ones) until something worked with minimal errors (e.g. I get a box that I have to close sometimes when I go offline; big deal :P)

Online Vision systems are essentially custom set up depending on the customers needs and available hardware. My Optiv setup might be different than yours (especially being that I'm a few years behind...) for example.

Your best bet, as stated above, talk to your local rep and see what magic they can muster. If you can't get them to come outright, maybe try some remoting sessions or phone calls. Someone's bound to point you in the right direction

I don't know if it was mentioned, but to connect to the machine you need to have an Online dongle or license, and be using the online version to connect to the machine. Plus whatever random files it may or may not need, like the PC-DMIS Vision interface..

I should note my comment above is with my offline seat. I don't have any issues with my online seat.
