GD&T training materials

Howdy!

Has anyone used any of the "instructor kits" for GD&T that are on the market?

If you have, which package/company/author and what did you like or dislike?

I have been tasked with preparing some "basic" GD&T courses that I will be teaching to my co-workers. The aim is to improve understanding without "getting too deep into it."

Almost like learning to swim without getting wet, I know.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Wes!

Can you share what (if any) conclusions you came up with? I've been tasked with basically the same deal, so any insight you've gleaned would be most appreciated.

Also, has anyone attended seminars with Dr Greg Hetland? He's heading downunder in a few months. I'll be attending - but I'm trying to figure out how much emphasis I should put on this for others. In short, is it a "must-see"?

    Howdy NZ CMM Girl,

Sadly I have made no real progress in terms of training materials that could be shared. I put down some of my own ideas about how the classes might go. I came up with rough drafts of an outline for the first couple of classes. However when I tried to follow up and further discuss this with the powers that originally suggested I make these preparations I was told this needs to be shelved for the time being. I continue to keep my eyes open and to think about it from time to time. If they were to come to me today and ask me to give a first class asap I could throw something together in a few hours making use of 2D sketches and drawings from the standard and a couple of other GD&T books I have on hand. Actual wooden or plastic models designed for teaching GD&T would be a great help, but I don't know that they are absolutely necessary.

All I know about Dr. Greg Hetland are the email newsletters I receive every month or so. I delete those after I read them, so I don't have a link or email address handy, but an internet search ought to get anyone interested in touch.
