But our Excel spreadsheet has calculated different results?....

When this question reaches our support team, a battle begins.
Not a battle with the customer. An internal battle between old colleagues. Who gets to answer? Who is quicker to find out how the result was calculated in Excel or another software package, when all you have is the data and the result?

The technical answer is simple. "Your Excel / your other software calculates like this..." and it usually only takes a few minutes to find out. Because: There are some "right calculations". But there are thousands of wrong calculations... and yes, there are many "right" ones. If you look at the strategies delivered with the Q-DAS software qs-STAT, you will get different results per strategy. But the same per strategy worldwide with the same data. And all strategies are based on compliance with standards and company policies. Fully automated.

And now the real work begins, before the answer. HOW to write it.

Who is the questioner? From the quality department? From your own customers?
From which company? What is being produced? In which country? What standards might you be subject to?
Is the customer facing an audit and contacting Q-DAS for the first time because the name is familiar?
And also Has the request been made politely or impolitely and you need to take a deep breath before answering?

All these questions go through the supporter's mind as they try to formulate a polite response. To point out any errors in the calculation, to show the differences, perhaps even to show how Q-DAS could calculate the same result as Excel, but the Q-DAS software will always show such a result in red and crossed out, because such a calculation is mathematically possible, but not allowed.

The support team always tries to answer customers' questions and guide them through the training courses on the subject. Because training is what is lacking, and unfortunately there is far too little investment in it these days.
