New position, New System, no local expert. I have experience with PcDmis and DataPage

I cannot get into any of the files even when I go through DataPage, Cleared the XStat file.
there are *dbd files available but DataPage does not recognize them (current configeration).
I even tried the Demo file "nothing

Any ideas

Thanks RobConfused
  • not much to go on - one suggestion is to have short path names and no spaces in those names.
    C:\DataPage\Demo
    C:\DataPage\NewPart
  • You are using what is basically a "DOS" based program. So, conform to DOS naming conventions.... 8.3 is DOS naming..... (filename.ext)

Another thing to try is to remove (move, rename) the VISTA.TAF file and the LOCKMGR.DBL file from the database directory. Once you do (with DP all closed!), open Datapage and let it re-make those files. Then just to make sure, delete ALL instances of XSTATS11.TMP, search the hard drive if need be, and remove them all.

If there is a "BAD" database path data in the XSTATS11.TMP file, it will NEVER clear itself out, YOU have to do it, either by editing the file and correcting the database path or by deleting the file.

    Matt,

    Thanks for the reply.

I believe everything is followinf a DOS format.

VISTA.TAF file and the LOCKMGR.DBL are no where to be found?

and I had deleted the XSTATS11.TMP file.

I have attached a few snap shots if this would help.

It appears DataPage has not been used in awhile. I have no history on update to software or systems over the past few years and I would like to be able to use this feature until someone would like to update this system.

    Any help would be appriciated

  • you are missing the data definition file:
    DataPg6.dbd

Use the Editor to create another database (or find another copy of DataPg6.dbd and copy it to DEMO).

Not sure how viewable these pic are? DataPg6.dbd file are in Demo file but I am unable to access them through datapage.

  • your screen shot in Document1.pdf indicates:
    DATAPG6.D01 ... DATAPG6.D05
    DATAPG6.K01 ... DATAPG6.K02

but no DATAPG6.DBD file. All these files define a complete database. If any are missing you will get the "Database Files Missing" message.

DataPage is not allowing me to create a new dbase. I tried updating the old one, and created new one?

    Thank You

  • Try it somewhere where there isn't already an existing partial database.
  • Here is an entire EMPTY database. You may have to delete VISTA.TAF and LOCKMGR.DBL as they may be install specific.

Make a directory (folder) on your C DRIVE called mydata, put them in there. Set your Pcdmis database path to C:\MYDATA,$ instead of C:\DATAPAGE\PART,$ then open Datapage, go to FILE ~ OPEN DATABASE and type in C:\MYDATA then go to your Pcdmis install directory and DELETE XSTATS11.TMP.

Each and every program will need the stat database path changed to C:\MYDATA,$ and if you don't change them, you WILL generate the -127 error again, and again, and again.

If that doesn't get it working for you, then you have some other problem.

  • my guess is that someone has gone through your datapage directory and deleted what they thought were un-needed files. NEWDB.000 is the base to create a new one. There is no way to tell what was removed/changed. Perhaps a re-install of DataPage to a different location is in order.
  • Created a c:\temp file and get the same error?
