How does Datapage 5.0 compare to Datapage+ 2012? What are the advantages and/or disadvantages? Can you have both versions intalled on same PC but in different directories?
I installed it just did the recommended install. So I have both on computer using the same database.
Have not used it yet besides a little test to see if it worked. it did. Has the same look as 2012.
I tried data page 5.0 and when i run a data report i dont get any trace fields
go to text report than pick the pencil (options) and data report so you can configure what you want to show. make sure you apply and save,
or try a spreadsheet report.
I downloaded DataPage 5.0 and since I did not have the DataViewer I could only get 3 options for the reports. I was told that a revision is coming out to have access to all reports.
We have noticed in 5.0 you no longer get the autobody directions (Inboard, Outboard, Fore, Aft, Up, Down) even with the "Show Directions" option checked in the Labels Settings window. We do all autobody work so that makes 5.0 unusable for us.
Excel output options seem pretty limited. The revoked my 2 most used output reports: Statistics and Data. Who would need that sort of thing? Sigh... We'll just print out copies and re-enter the data later.
Its good exersize for my manual dexterity.
I tried using the Custom Excel File as a more tedious work around, but... um... it only seems to work on one dimension at a time... sigh... Anybody got any thoughts on that?
(I tried many ways of selecting/highlighting multiples as well as building sets etc... all to no Avail (get it... Avail... Anyone been around long enough to cut their teeth on that program?)
First time at it though, only there since they took the obvious and simple version away. Good thing too. I was getting too productive.
They removed the uneccessarily tedious "This cell has data already. Do you want to re-measure it?" pop up in the data editor. Mad props on that.
i just down loaded 5.0 today and it build 300 when i create a data report it will not let me add my trace fields, is this the latest version?
I wasn't aware this was something that was available in other versions of Datapage+. If you were able to get Tracefields into data reports without custom headers in another version, can you point me to the version and build#? Also, build 300 V5.0 is the most recent public release of Datapage+.
I can't understand why you can't save data from DataPage+, save it to a USB and view it on another PC... It seems like they really dropped the ball there. Some companies have global IT and if little Hajhi decides he doesn't want you using it, then he removes it. That being said, my PC for the CMM is off the network. So why would they make it a "server only" software?

SQL server is a database management suite that allows you to host a database that can be accessed from any computer on your domain. Being a standard Microsoft package I've never seen IT professionals arbitrarily decide to remove it. Further more, there are about 6 different options for viewing data on another computer. You could use report viewer, you could back up the data to an XML file for just the part in question and import it on another version of Datapage, you could also just connect your database to a SQL server that is hosted on another machine and view the data remotely. Or you could export your entire database and import it on another machine. You could also detach your database from the SQL host machine and attach it on another machine.
Anyone been around long enough to cut their teeth on that program?)
