flow curves data

Hello community,

If I have data of flow stress vs strain for specific temperatures, if I want to add a certain temperature in to the data base which lies between my data do I need to import the data for that temperature or the software will do a linear interpolation and plot the data once i add the temperature to it? Below is an example if i want to create data for temperature 1000C do i just add the temperature or do I need to import my data from a compression test?

If the software does interpolation will it be applicable to strain rate too??

Thanks,

Vignesh

  • Hello, if you do not add any flow curve at strain rate 1 the solver will interpolate between 982 °C and 1038 °C for 1000 °C. The same will happen for strain rate 0.01. If a strain rate in between occurs in the model, interpolation will be done for the strain rate as well. If you want to use stress strain data which differs from that interpolation, please create a new flow curve for example from your own compression test. Please note: there is no extrapolation, for example for a strain rate below 0.01 or highert than 1.
