I am trying to use the node align tool, to move a line of nodes on a HEX mesh to align on a straight curve. I cant however even select any form of node with the node align tool. Also is there an alternative approach by which I can split a 3D cell with just a line?
Hi Rhys, node align doesn't work for solid mesh nodes. If the nodes in question are on the outer face of the solid then you can use the Split Surface tool to split the face with the curve.
Hi Darrel, this is more for trying to get nodes to align through a thickness. I need to represent some fasteners without having the holes present, as the latter made it very difficult to hex mesh.
The only way I can think of at the moment to do this would be to split the cell on two planes based on the curve. Attached PPT has a procedure for this. It's a little bit of a faff, but hopefully you don't have to do this for too many bolts...
