When cleaning your Tip, have you had your ball come off in your hand ?

I recently had a ruby ball come off as I was cleaning the tip, should I try to reglue it and use it or just scrap it?

If they can be reglued what type of glue should I use?

i once reglued a 2by20 with crazy glue...it dry too fast i became one with the stylus

I’ve had that happen a number of times with non-Renishaw styli. In 25+ yrs, never had it happen with Renishaw though.

Never tried re-gluing them either. If you try it, let us know how well it calibrates. A smidgen of glue gets on the ruby in the wrong place it could cause erroneous results if that area does’t touch the artifact during calibration.

once ITP replaced it with a new (It was a reclamation) but I think they just reglued it . It is as new !!! They didn't find traces of glue so they did this free of charge.

I'd just scrap it if it's been around for a while.
Tips cost what? $100 to $200?
I bet the company buys cutting tools all the time. Tips last a lot longer than those.

I had one that did exactly that (came off). The ruby also looked like it had an air bubble inside as well. Likely bad from the get go but interesting none the less.

That's faulty logic. A lot of companies will happily drop hundreds of thousands of dollars each on high-end machine tools, but are unwilling to get a CMM that is actually capable of properly measuring their parts and only costs a fraction of what the machine did. Let alone trying to convince ANYONE that a $100-200 stylus is really a consumable item, not a durable item...
