Report reading for enigneers

Today the engineers are bothering me asking me how they can know what direction on the part the hole is out of tolerance. Like shown in the attachment. They like focusing on the graphical depiction of the out of tolerance.

To be honest i'm not really sure how I can express to them how that shows what direction. I believe it is based on the alignment the part is dimensioned to. Is there some help file/guide I can point them (and myself) to? I can see there is an out of tolerance go into the program and zoom in on the feature and see in where it is compared to where it should be, but that doesn't help the engineers reading the report. Them being able to figure it out instead of coming to the lab and emailing me would be great. So any help or insight on this guys? Thanks in advance!

I don't use exact measure, I use legacy reportorting and it gives the X,Y,and or Z measured, nominal, and deviation of the Feature when reporting true position. they only need to know where the part is aligned to and which way the axis run.

Well, the "cross-hair" does tell the "reader" where the hole is compared back to nominal(That's what the dot represents).
Like you said, it's alignment dependent. So maybe just try to explain holding the part how to "orientate" the part
before looking at the report. Also, on your second page the XYZ should help them know the deviation.
If they can't figure that out, I guess they are not Engineers.

there are optional graphical (report) items available in the advanced tab of XactMeas. might help... might not. what WILL help is to not use feature nomenclature like: .123-.127 HOLE
just 2¢ from the peanut gallery......

Thank you all for your answers so far. sealevel we aka I am still experimenting with what I should name things. We first tried ballooned drawings attached to the report using adobe, but the engineers didn't like that. So now i'm trying calling out holes as they are on drawings such as .250 4 hole pattern on datum A. So far no negative feedback on the names yet. I will point out the XYZ to them as well as work on playing with the report. Thanks again guys this forum is always a life saver.

Did you pick up on sealevels comment?
Do not use . - / * = + or anything like this in a feature name or variable name.
You have .123-.127 HOLE Size this is a no no also there should NEVER be any spaces between words use _ if you need to.
This will mess you up some day PCDMIS don’t like it.

Maybe P250_HOLE_4 and DATUM_A

Letters (A thru Z), Numbers (0 thru 9), and the UnderscoreKey ( _ ) ONLY!

Instead of .123. Maybe use a notation like 0P123

instead of .123-.127 maybe 0P123_thru_0P127

whatever makes sense to you
