pretty basic question: How do you measure a simple diameter without writing a program? I can beep 4 points around the circle and see they've been accepted in the lower right hand box, but I can't seem to get the diameter to calculate? Thank you.
-Click into the code for the feature you just created and hit F9
-Change number of hits to whatever you want and click OK..click YES that you want the hits to equally spaced
-Click into code above the feature and INSERT/DCC Mode
-With probe still physically in the bore, put curser at top of code and then hit CTRL+U
When using a DCC CMM, you'll get far more accurate results with the machine probing instead of the operator because its impossible for operator to make it touch at the same touch speed that the probe was calibrated at
The "correct" way would probably be to manually measure a cylinder, primary align to it (lets say in Z), set the origin in it for X, Y, repeat the cylinder measurement and alignment in DCC and then measure the diameter either as a circle or cylinder (in DCC).
Could be nice with a plane or something to use as origin in Z, for depth control.
Just teach an auto-circle using three sample hits. The 3 sample hits establish the projection plane. If you then toggle to DCC mode and set the avoidance moves, number of hits you want etc, you can re-measure it for greater accuracy.
