SPC non-value added function??

Stopping to convert transction dates (OMG) to what part that is sucks. Reduce Que time. Owners and production control want to see the CMM beeping all day. Customers want clear, simple, concise reports and they want it thier way. What keeps my machine running is the efficiency of the off-line support. Don't mean to whine SPC is a value added function but needs to delegated to support personal and not need Key personal to make sense of the data. The data output needs to be stand alone. It needs to be a more proactive and not reactive system. Machines need to run and customers need there reports and a realtime system that isn't DOG and Pony is the answer. Further stand alone with more automation. Hoping the new datapage release embraces the shortcommings that have been on the table for quite sometime and can further automate the system and get people back to reducing que time.

  • Well they say the squeaky wheel gets the most oil. This is perhaps the reason why the development of the software appears to be behind the times. The field demand determines the need for the software enhancements and Pc-dmis is more under the microscope then datapage quite obviously. For me SPC is now being put under the microscope to meet a particular (well paying) Customers demands. I believe that SPC can deliver the tools to benefit manufacturing to where internally we can justify it and not have to do it under duress. Thanks as always Matt!
