Has anyone moved over to Datapage+ for reporting?

I don't know if Im missing something, but the layout is beyond confusing, Im still not sure I have the database setup correctly, it is dog slow when I have a part model on the screen, & I still have not figured out how to tell PCDMIS how to access the database. Im trying to make Dataview style reports out of it, but Im finding it next to impossible to do. Why they did away with the File...Edit...View...toolbar at the top, I dont know.

  • Hi,

    Another Hexagon guy here.

I've just (since yesterday) started playing with DP+.

It's taken a little while but I'm finding my way around it now.

I agree with some of your points but like Ping says, it took me a while to get use to Win7 (from XP) but I now love it.

To answer some of peoples complaints here's my take...

    1) the UI is quite different from the old DP, but think about where this is going? ===> Web reporting.

So the UI has quite a web page type feel to it, could you imagine the fuss you'd create if there was a desktop version which mimicked the old DP and then a different look and feel for the web-based version?

Also there is a lot in common with the old DP, report and chart types, defining queries etc is the same (if not in the same place).

    2) Stetting up the DB: I've done two so far, on a a 64bit Win7 system, which contrary to above works fine, it was tricky as I already had SQLEXPRESS on the system, which once I un-installed and re-installed was pretty straight forward following the readme in the install set The other was XP which was a easy-as-pie, not a single problem.
To be fair both these have been set up on the local computer so I can't comment on connecting to a server.
