Our custom application is built around Patran 2014.1, I've never upgraded to Windows 10 because although 2014.1 installs and runs on Windows 10, it crashes almost immediately if you try and do anything.
Patran 2017 does not recognize my 3DConnexion Settings. Specifically, I want the up and down direction of the space mouse to be zoom in/out not forward/backward. Is there a way to make this work?
Is there a way in Patran to align the first edge of a quad or tri element (direction of node 1 to 2) and thus the element coordinate system with a user defined coordinate system X axis?
Hi, I have a bdf which was created with Patran 2014, but my university has Patran 2016, and everytime I try to import it I get the error Creating Nastran Database using SOL nifimp_v22: Failed but continue. I feel the old formatting of the bdf is not letting…
I repeatedly load animations of .op2 files for SOL 103/145 and almost always have to animate the results, set to 40 frames, and then setup some default visualization settings. I keep looking through the documentation and can't find the variable names…
I have large input file that was exported from Femap. It has hundreds of properties and it has comments for each property. These comments include the name for each property. I want to get patran to recognize these property names so I don't have to spend…
Hello,
I have a solid mesh (hex) and I do not have geometry solid. Can I create a solid? I want to export this and review the geometry in a CAD model.
Hello,
I have to work on Random Analysis and Frequency Response (SOL 111) analysis.
I have not worked on either of them in the past. Is there any relevant material or webinar to get me up to speed with these types of analysis ?

Hello,
I want to extract element stress for certain element (both solid and shell element types). Is there a way that I can define my element numbers (in a set or anything else) and can extract the output and review it in excel?
Do I…
Hello,
I think this will be hard to explain but here is what I am trying to do.
Suppose we have 2 solid cube on top of each other (larger cube on the bottom and smaller cube on the top). I mesh the top cube with fine mesh (quad mesh surface…
Hello,
I installed Patran 2019 on Windows and tried to attach OP2 file which size is 93.9MB(SOL400). But I got an internal error with a message below.

I have plotted a stress contour. But, the contour max/min are not what I wanted. I want to make sure stress above yield is plotted red. How to change contour max/min??
I am trying to make a report. I need to have a white background in Patran GUI. By default, I am seeing a shaded blue color. How do i change it to white color?
I am plotting displacement contours in Patran. The legand/color spectrum is coming on the right side. I want to shift to the left side. I am not sure how to. Need help in changing it to the left..
I am getting myself started with MSC Nastran/Patran Analysis. I will be doing some basic Linear Static Analysis. Any help/tutorial/reference material I can use to get myself started? My previous FEA background is in LS-Dyna
I have RBE2 and RBE3 connected to that solid geometry. If I deleted the mesh and mesh it again using small GEL value I get bad elements. (probably its picking up the RBE3 and RBE2 nodes already associated with that solid and creating bad elements.) Any…
When using the pre-load utility to split a 3D bolt and apply the relevant RBE's and constraints, which direction should the force be acting? Should it be acting away or towards the head of the bolt? I am wanting to simulate the stretching of the bolt…
Hello all,
I'm using MSC Sinda to solve my thermal simulations. I use Patran to pre process. In Patran, the model is composed by nodes and 2D elements (FEA modelisation). I have some conductive links, and some radiative ones. When I launch…
I have used the feature of "Mask adjacent element OR Show attached elements" in other software such as Hyper mesh.
Basically I would like to do the following
1) Hide the attached elements/nodes for which my MPCs are connected.
