Anyone using Dataview?

Apparantly not many folks use it bit is anyone using it?
Some of my customers are limited by their inability to visualize reported data
in excel format so I'm thinking I should check out Dataview since we already paid for it.
Anyone?

Thanks
MJB
  • I use it quite often, do you need help on how to use it?

I certainly will need some help when I have time to work on it again.
Right now I'm draining the swamp and the alligators are licking their chops.

    thanks,

  • I use data view Daily!! Macro's is the way to go
  • I use dataview but hate it....It is a clunky piece of crap

Your gonna have to create macros & execute them from within your part program......Not to mention you have to send all axis from each feature to the database whether you need them or not so your leader lines know where to shoot......I dont believe dview has been updated since the 70's.....

You dont haft to use macro. Everything comes from the data base the macro has nothing to do with the part program besides the data base used within it and dimesions reported which where else would you get the data some pull it out of there a... but mine comes from the part measured. Data view is intended to be a constant charting system for eng. to follow inspections and adjust tooling. It works great if setup correctly. JC

I get my "pretty-picture" reports out of Excel:

Changing the value in a single cell of the form will change it to display one of the following:
    Road Map
    Single Part check results
    Study check averages
    Study range
    Tolerance for each point
OUT of tolerance features will have the border turn to red

Spc points can also be done and they will display Ppk values as well as check results.

You are correct you dont HAVE to create macros.... that is if you want to manually open up dview & go through the motions....but if you want automated charting & spc calc's to work with your part program then you will have to execute the macro's from within your part program....All I am saying is this piece of software is too antiquated....they are probably hundreds of software / vb app's that could do this with much more efficiency & at a fraction of the cost.
