when i write a measurement routine with a scan and accompanying analysis view on my offline seat it works fine, i run it offline several times to make sure the program is good, no collisions, etc.. But when i transfer it to the online CMM computer via a server and the program gets to the "analysisview" command the program freezes. I have to go in and delete it directly on the CMM and then just generate a new one. Now this isn't catastrophic failure or anything but the CMMs are usually tied up by inspectors and machinists doing in process checks. Has anyone had an issue like this? I program with PCDmis 2022r1 but the CMMs run 2018r1. i also have 2018r2 on my offline but that still causes the same issue.
Running scans, is exhausting work on your computer, especially on a bridge CMM. It's like lifting weights, the more plates you add to the bar, the harder it is to lift, Your Offline seat has one job running the program virtually, While the one tied to your machine has 2, running the program, virtually and reality. The more scans you add the slower it will go, the bigger the scans, the slower it will go, In your Offline seat the computer doesn't have to calculate anything because the part is perfect nothing changes "0's" across the board, on the live CMM it has to Calculate all these points and come up with the solution. Which equation would be faster and easier to do?
How many points in the scan and how many scans are you trying to dimension at once time? Have you tried to just give the computer time to process or too impatient and close the software? I've had the PC look like it froze, but was simply processing large profiles. Had to let one sit for over 15 minutes running large scans and everything was dimension at the end of the program.
If you delete the analysis/view on the online CMM, recreate it, then save the program, does it still freeze up the next time you run it? That would localize the issue to the online CMM and PC.
If the program runs fine without the analysis/view command, then see about updating your graphics driver?
Both are valid statements, and the scan size varies from light to heavy point density. however when i delete and recreate on the online CMMs the analysis view is instantaneous. so the load on the CPU does not seem to be the factor in question. and the programs are getting moved from the server to the local CMM before running so it wouldn't be server lag either.
Then it could be things getting lost in transition from Offline to Online, It took me awhile to figure out, but my Offline seat, when making any scans , when I transferred it over to Online, my scans would be perfect, couldn't figure it out, That's not possible. Then I noticed Only Selected was greyed out. Which was strange, but I uninstalled PC-DMIS and reinstalled it, and all of a sudden it was there, and any scans, from there on out was acting like it should, but sometimes to this day I might have recreate the scan, and sometimes I don't, I just find it easier to Regenerate my points in my scan before I start the program. Not a solution, but like me, might help you avoid scratching your head , making your bald spot even bigger
That IS odd. My best guess is that something isn't working right when you are saving the program in an older version to run on the CMMs. Maybe even the jump back from 2018R2 to 2018R1 is causing issues.
Maybe you can try saving the program as an even older version, like 2017. I have no idea if that would help, but I've done odder things to get the software to behave.
Something else that may help is to reduce the arrowdensity setting to just show 20% of the arrows or something like that. But, I think that would just help with the symptoms, not solve the main problem.
