Calibration error diameter exceeds limits

I am using a TP-20. I got a new tip size we havent used before (.7mm x 20mm ). I built a new probe file it is correct except HP-TB-2 is not in the list anymore, so i am using a HP-TBe. I have done this with other tip builds without a problem. When i try to calibrate all the tip angles over half come up with the error probe diameter exceeds limits, i try re-running those angles but get same results any suggestions?
  • tiny tip, SLOW DOWN the touch speed, 20mm long, gonna flex, which will give you smaller diameter results. Also, you need the lightest tension TP20, a standard module isn't much good for that small of a tip.

    What is the size tolerance you are using for acceptable results?
  • standard dev. .000394 tip diameter .009843 . and i am using a standard module (yellow) I use this module with my .5mm x 20mm tip and don't have any problems although the shank on that tip is reinforced half way down so the working area of tip is closer to 10mm. I am also having the same problem with the other new tip we got (1mm x 27.1mm) We generally use a 1mm x 20mm or a 1.5mm x 30mm tip for most parts, never had a issue. But these are the only 2 new tips i have built since updating the software to 2023.1 are there any changes or issue with this version? The list of tool or hardware names seems to have changed
  • If 's suggestion of slowing touchspeed down doesn't help. check the following:
    1: ensure probe is thoroughly tightened to the module.
    2: clean the ruby and your cal sphere (ck-200 goo or IPA with a lint free wipe)
    3: look under a scope at that specific probe stylus tip. In super rare occasions, i've received probes with excessive glue on the ruby-shank interface, and it affects that stylus's ability to function.
  • Also try changing your start angle to 10, 15, 20 instead of zero if you haven't already. Tips that small tend to "shank out" using a zero start angle
  • This is interesting. Is there any reason why this happens? We use a .3mm , but barely have used it except for 2-3 programs. I'll be sure to check this out next time. We also use a light force module.
  • Any tip we have smaller than 1mm I start at 10 degrees when calibrating. But all of our tips that are that small are also short, which causes the shank to hit the cal. sphere before the ruby does when trying to start at zero.
