Parallel to USB Dongle Upgrade: Need Auth. Code

We were having problems with our computer. We contacted Hexagon I believe about an upgrade to newer computer. We had the parallel dongle on the old computer. We got a new computer without parallel ports on it. Hexagon sent us a USB dongle. Everything worked fine, except for some minor issues with DataPage, for 45 days. Today when I open up the program I can't load any data in DataPage. It says my license is no longer valid and to put in a code that goes with my dongle serial number. My problem is that I did not recieve a new code with the USB dongle. We are not current on our MSA. Does this mean I'm SOL? I realized how bad of a situation I am in when I couldn't load the database. I just hope I don't have to shell out $8k for the code.

Call Hexagon.
If they don't take care of the problem, report back here and I am sure some of us can think of a few things to remind them of.

sounds like 'they' did not program your lock with the correct DP ID? Did the DP "User ID" change?

When switching from the LPT1 port to the USB port, you need a new code to enter on the "splash screen" that comes up when DatapageRT opens. If you didn't get the code, you are SOL, and I would bet long odds that you PAID for the new USB dongle. As for getting it to work. Simply BUY an LPT1 (parallel) card and put it in the computer. They cost like $8, and would have been a TON cheaper than what you paid for the new USB dongle.

I recommended an I/O card but it wasn't up to me. Unfortunately Hexagon requires you to send the parallel dongle back to them once you get the USB one. Yes, the user id did change and the old authentication code will not work because its linked to the specific dongle. I will try to call them tomorrow John. Wish me luck!

I submitted a ticket on the Hexagon website describing my predicament. I gave them all of the info about my USB dongle serial and such. One hour, I kid you not, one hour later they replied and gave me the authorization code. Hexagon rules. I may need to try and convince my QM we need a MSA. Those guys are super fast. True that! I have one more question. I have the code now. Is there any way I can get the program to load without inputting the code in each time? It's no big deal. More of an annoyance.

You should only have to enter it the first time you open it, it should 'stay' in the little box.

This happens when your dongle serial number changes. All you have to do is submit a request with your dongle number and a text dump of your modules (use custprog.exe to generate that) to customer relations email for what ever region you're in. the US one is customerrelations.us@hexagonmetrology.com , give them a little explanation about how you have upgraded to the new USB from the LPT port lock and they should give you a response within an hour.

(I know this was solved but the extra info never hurts.)
