So I finally got my new computer for other machine. Did a fresh new install of PC-DMIS and Datapage +5.2, on windows 10. So a few of us still use the External Command, Listening at the top and End at the bottom. Well if you don't install Datapage 5.0 and install 5.2, this little knickknack don't work. spent all day with Hexagon just to find this out. Now if you put External Command without -END or -E it works which takes a while to record. You have to have Data Importer 5.0 gathering info and Datapage 5.0, and it will still show up in DataPage 5.2. Now it actually seems to work fine on my windows 7 computer, even though I have both Datapages installed, I do use the Data Importer 5.2 gathering the information, results no problem. So I'm kinda guessing this might be a Windows 10 thing. Now Stats update seems to work no problem.
One more thing to add, I'm sure Hexagon will get right on this and fix it
Actually this was what I got after running Stats in DataPage 5.2. First 6, I ran Windows 10 Last 2 put old computer, Windows 7, Same Program, tried both External, wouldn't record, Stats recorded with no results. Now both worked fine with 5.0, but nothing shows up in 5.2, but results do show up with External Command in 5.0, if I use 5.0 importer. There is a Popup that occurs when I open Datapage 5.2 in Windows 10. I will post this later, I saved this on new computer and its already unhooked. Before you say anything about did you uncheck features when you ran it, all 8 runs same program no change.
I'm running DP+ 5.2 on my database computer, and using the DataPageStats.exe from DP+ 5.2 on both CMM computers. I don't use listening, or end, or any of that other crap. Just a single external command at the end of the program. I'm not sure what you're problem is.
The only issue I have is that things will go into DP out of order if I have more alignments than just manual and DCC. But that's easily fixed (and I've described that fix elsewhere if you need that).
Well Vinnster, I have not had any problems with this in Windows 7, and actually if I use Datapage 5.0 in Windows 10, it works without a hitch. Like I said there is an error that pops up when I open 5.2, which I will display when I hook the computer back up. But that popup does not appear when I open 5.0. I am sure this is the issue. I just don't know what it is nor what it means. Are you running Windows 10?, I thought you resorted back to 7. The only reason I was doing listening and end, because it was taking for ever to dump. It worked fine so why change right? Oh and FYI, those results you see, I actually setup Stats. Like I said I tried every route to record. That was my best result.
Actually, yes, our DataPage+ computer did get reverted back to Win 7. I was thinking about the computer doing the Stats creation. We reverted back to Win 7 for a PDF issue, and, to be honest, I'm not 100% sure at this point whether that was with 2012 or 5.2.
You might need to fix the registry on the Windows 10 computer first (the User Access Control issue, if you haven't already fixed that, that would be my first thought.)
I would also suggest that you try not using any of the other stats commands and just inserting the external DataPageStats.exe at the end.
Just to add. Walter at Hexagon, had remote access in the my computer. He checked all the registry and full access and all that other crap. He was stumped on the recording issue. He was satisfied that he finally got it to record, he even stated there was an issue with this. Problem is he saw it recording, temp file, and throwing it into datapage, we never actually opened it up to see the data. When I went in there, what he recorded was empty also. I truly believe it has something to do with 5.2. Like I said 5.0 works every which way, but 5.2 doesn't? Plus the popup in 5.2, but no popup with 5.0? everything was setup the same.
First, Walter in support is rock solid when it comes to Datapage I'd trust him. But typically I don't see any issues with 5.0 or 5.2 in regards to data recording in Windows 10 unless you're doing something like running PC-DMIS as admin which in Win 10 with UAC disabled doesn't really do much except change the user that's running it without actually elevating the process to admin.
Oh I didn't feel any doubts of his ability. He even stated that there seemed to be an issue with 5.2 and he was going to submit something, not sure what, but he said there seems to be a problem. He actually saw the popup, he downloaded something, he said reboot it and it should go away. I did all of that and the popup was still there, and as you can see above, recording with no results. Walter and I spent over 2 hours with no progress.
I would have to get my hands on the system to see what's going on but I'm pretty sure I could figure it out. I recall one of the data tools packages not adding or specifying the wrong text file encoding causing SQL to dump all the data, so that's a possibility. How do you process your data files? Do you delete them after you add them to the database or do you handle them to a backup directory? I'd like to take a look at the data file that failed to import into the Database, be nice to see if encoding was the issue or something deeper.
Sp2. I don't have the PC hooked up right now. Had to resort back to my old PC, so it will work. I have IT just reverting back to Windows 7. I think 5 hours of wasted time on this is plenty. I appreciate everything Peter, we're just gonna go back to what works
